The duties of the ENIC/NARIC office are as follows:
To provide guidance on the evaluation of qualifications in compliance with best practices/methods for assessing qualifications as developed by the NARIC and ENIC networks.
To provide authentic information on qualifications, education systems, and recognition procedures to individual holders of qualifications, higher education institutions, employers, professional organisations, public authorities and other interested parties.
To serve as the main information point on the recognition of qualifications at national level.
To cooperate on related matters with other information centres, higher education institutions, their networks and other relevant actors in the national context.
To cooperate with the National Coordinator and the competent authorities for the professional recognition of regulated professions.
To contribute to higher education policy development and legislation at regional and national level, and to the development of a national qualification framework.
To provide authenticated information on the education system within which NARIC works to interested parties outside of the country, and in particular to other members of the ENIC and NARIC networks.
To contribute to the activities of the ENIC and NARIC networks on the development of an overarching framework of qualifications for the European Higher Education Area.
To participate in publications, surveys, comparative studies and other research activities undertaken by the European Commission and other organisations.
To develop cooperation with competent authorities in third countries working in the field of academic recognition.
To promote the activities of the NARIC network in third countries.
The Icelandic ENIC/NARIC office is required to mention its membership of the ENIC and NARIC networks in all its publications and correspondence related to these matters.
