Regulated professions

ENIC/NARIC Iceland is responsible for academic recognition of foreign qualifications but does not issue licenses for regulated professions. 
Individuals with foreign education in a field that is considered one of the regulated professions have their education recognized and apply for a license to be able to operate within the profession in Iceland.

Vocational education

The application form for recognition of a professional qualification within crafts and trades can be accessed here: Application form

Teachers, Librarians and Guidance Counsellors

The Directorate of Education is responsible for issuing licences for those professions. Further information can be found on their website here: Menntamálastofnun

Applications for recognition of vocational qualifications need to be accompanied with:

□ a photocopy of school leaving certificate (in original language) indicating the length of studies (years, months or weeks) and their content (a list of subjects)
□ a translation of school leaving certificate (Icelandic, English or a Scandinavian language)
□ a confirmation from employer/company on work experience (at least three years within the last ten years)
□ a confirmation of the status of the qualification in question in home country(if the profession is regulated there)
□ a photocopy of relevant pages of passport (confirmation of nationality).

Health professions

The Directorate of Health issues all licences for health related professions. All relevant information and applications forms can be found on their website here: Licences for health related professions. 

Other regulated professions

The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation grants licenses for other specialists in the field of technology, business, and design. Information and application forms can be found on the website of the ministry: Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation
