Background report
Refugees who are unable to provide documentation of their qualifications can apply for a background report. The report describes their educational background, indicating how ENIC/NARIC Iceland would normally assess a similar qualification.

What is a background report?Background report provides information about your background and the education that you claim to have completed. It includes details about the study programme and how the ENIC/NARIC office would evaluate this degree.
The applicants must fill out a very detailed application form and describe his/her study in details and a follow up interview might be required. |
How can I use the background report?The background reports gives educational institutes and employers information about the studies you claim to have completed. The report does not hold any legal status and does not guarantee access to further education or employment.
If you have no documents to submit to support your claim, the background report can provide valuable information. Please note that the document is not legally binding and the final decision is always with the receiver of the report. |
Can I get a background report?If you hold the status of a refugee in Iceland, have received your Icelandic ID number and you have tried everything humanly possible to gain access to your educational documents, with no prevail, you can apply for an educational background report.
